Type Arabic in Open office

I am very interest to use Linux specially Ubuntu Muslem Edition 8.0 because ones of several facility is arabic language. But I have a problem, How to type arabic character in Linux ?. If you use windows, you can change the propertes in control panel-regional setting and install(add) arabic (saudi arabia) languange and insert the windows installer.
I do the same step in linux by pressing the system-language support and activity the arabic language, but I steel can't type write with arabic. try and error is a good method to find the best solution, and finally I try to open the system-preferences-keyboard-layout (+add) and select arabic and set english as default setting. after this selecth layout options...... and then select layout switching and select type of method you want to change between English and Arabic. My recomended select : Alt + Shift change layout.
